FAQS

What's a bumper?

Bumpers are small pieces of leather on the end of the strap next to split rings, that protects the body of the camera. They are built in to the straps as we make them. We use matching black or brown leather as appropriate.

What length camera strap should I get?

Our Leather neck straps come in 3 lengths. We measure the full length from the end to end. The shortest length is 100cm, then going up in 20cm increments up to 140cm.  To find out which of the 3 strap lengths is best for you get a tape measure and your existing camera strap (or a friend and a little imagination.)

Using the tape, measure the length of your existing camera strap from end to end, round this number to the nearest Tilt Shift Strap length. There you have it! If you don’t have a strap already ask a friend to hold your camera where you think you want to carry it and measure from one camera fitting, around your neck, to the other fitting. Round this number to the closest Tilt Shift Strap length.

Bare in mind how you like to wear your Camera, do you like it high, close to chest height? Do you prefer to carry it on across your body on your hip? You’ll find a length suitable for however you want to carry your camera. And remember you can always exchange it.

What weight can the straps carry?

We have tested out both the Rivet and Stitched versions of our camera straps to carry 10kg. There were no signs of breakage on the leather or the heavy duty split rings used to attach the strap to your camera. Tests continue upwards of 10kg soon!

What kind of Leather do you make the camera straps from?

Both the wrist and neck straps are made from Italian Vegetable tanned Leather. We chose it for its deliciously supple and thick (3-4mm) quality. The Harness uses a tightly grained, smoother and stiffer Italian Leather which is also made using vegetable tanning. They both smell great!

Vegetable tanning is kinder on the environment than Chrome tanning as it uses tannic acids found naturally in tree bark and some plants. It's a long but gentle (centuries old) process that produces a more natural leather that ages beautifully. Veg tan leather is biodegradable btw.

Do you have any leather alternatives?

Not right now - but we are looking into it. It's important to us that the manufacture of a leather alternative is not detrimental to the planet and the company producing it is open and transparent about how it's made. So far Pineapple Leather is looking promising.

Do you ship worldwide?

Yes! All international orders are sent tracked and signed for. This protects us both from lost mail and makes it easier to track down an orders whereabouts.

Do you make custom camera straps?

Yes we can. If you have something specific you'd like us to design and make for you just get in touch and we can start the process.

Can I return or exchange my strap if I change my mind?

Of course, simply let us know within 14 days of delivery and send items back within 30 days of delivery. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have a query about your order and we'll do our best to help you. Buyers are responsible for return postage costs.
